Orthodontic Patient Compliance Guidelines
- Fingers & tongues can be a big problem for appliances & braces. Keep your fingers out of your mouth and keep your tongue from "playing" with your appliance.
- Do not remove appliances other than as instructed or if they are broken or loose and not staying in place. Do not try to wear a broken appliance.
- Do not play with appliance, when it's in your mouth OR out of your mouth.
- Wear any additional appliances as instructed.
- Brush & floss regularly and see your hygienist every 4-6 months.

Food Considerations
The following can cause problems with orthodontic appliances. Hard foods can cause breakage, sweets can corrode the materials the appliance is made of, and staining effects clear and porcelain braces and acrylic appliances.
